There’s no longer any surprise whenever Ginebra star Scottie Thompson churns out an all-around performance.

But for someone reason, Thompson’s performance in the 120-92 win over Rain or Shine in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup felt different.

Just ask coach Tim Cone.

“Scottie was everywhere tonight. Absolutely everywhere,” Cone said.

Indeed, Thompson was all over the court in Wednesday’s match, January 22, at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

He put up a near-triple double with 22 points, six rebounds, and eight assists, while also getting a steal and a block as the Gin Kings officially caught the flight to the mid-season conference’s playoffs with a 7-4 win-loss tally.

Cone made special mention of Thompson’s tip in off Justin Brownlee’s muffed triple early in the fourth period, wowing the crowd at the venue.

“It looked like there were two or three Scotties out there, not just one… You couldn’t tell where he was,” the veteran mentor said.

For Thompson, the team was simply playing with a sense of urgency. After all, it’s the last stretch of the elimination round and Ginebra eyes a better seeding in the quarterfinals.

“Coming to this game talagang kelangan naming may sense of urgency. Starting now playoff game na namin,” he said.

“Every game is crucial for us. We know yung standings dikit dikit Gusto namin maganda spot namin sa playoffs.”

Barangay Ginebra though will have a tougher opponent in the Meralco Bolts next Wednesday, January 29, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
