San Miguel finds itself in an unfamiliar territory after bowing out of the PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup, with the Beermen missing the playoffs despite being defending champions.
San Miguel will miss the playoffs for the first time in 10 years.
This after NLEX drubbed Eastern, 94-76, in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
The Road Warriors got their feet into the playoff door with six wins in 12 outings, assuring themselves of at least a battle for the 8th and final spot.
That effectively shut the door on the beleaguered and now-dethroned champion Beermen, a formidable dynasty that stumbled to an inferior 5-7 tally.
The last time the Beermen failed to advance to the playoffs was in the 2015 Commissioner's Cup, according to PBA chief statistician Fidel Mangonon.
