Whether your team won or lost, basketball fans agree that the PBA Commissioner's Cup Game 6 Finals was fantastic.
Epic. Intense. Stressful. Words that can describe that stretch before you pop the question to your loved one. Or that time you were fully locked in killing that final game boss. These are also the words fans used to describe Game 6 of the PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals between the Bay Area Dragons and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.
Sportswriter and analyst Quinito Henson credited Bay Area's shooting touch.
Plus the Dragons were simply bigger and got the edge in rebounds, 49-47.
Fans were in awe of Myles Powell, who is now 9-0 in the PBA.
The American import never played in the PBA playoffs and didn't play against Ginebra in the elimination. He still delivered.
They call the Bay Area Dragons BAD, and they mean that in grudging acknowledgement.
Maybe Myles Powell can play in the PBA again.
Some though were not too impressed with Coach Tim Cone's end-of-quarter plays.
Not all Ginebra fans were bitter though. Bay Area was really just that tough and the Gin Kings not named Justin Brownlee would have to step up.
Or maybe they just didn't want to make the trip all the way to Bulacan for the winner-take-all Game 7 on Sunday. And Cone, the master of adjustments, would need to find an answer to Powell.
Something's gotta give in Game 7, with Justin Brownlee unbeaten in a finals series as a Ginebra import. Can the Commissioner's Cup Best Import summon more strength to play another herculean game?
The last time a PBA Finals Game 7 was played at the Philippine Arena with Barangay Ginebra was the 2017 Governors' Cup against Meralco. The Gin Kings won that too, according to PBA statistician Fidel Mangonon III. Powell though is also undefeated as a Bay Area reinforcement.
Whether you're a Never Say Die follower of Ginebra or a new fan of the efficient Bay Area, they all agree that Game 7 will be a mammoth one.
Now the question is, when will ticket sales open?
Here's to hoping there are fewer, er, zero scalpers this time.
