The Creamline Cool Smashers just want to win—badly.
Don’t let all that smiling and dancing and giggling fool you. These Creamline Cool Smashers, deep down inside, are competitive. They are very competitive.
And that competitive fire is one of the biggest reasons the Cool Smashers are champions for the sixth time in franchise history—and for the fourth time in the All-Filipino Conference.
“’Yung team naman, individually, very competitive,” said now three-time MVP Tots Carlos in the post-game championship presser. “Hindi mo talaga makikitaan ng kahit konting sign na mag-gi-give up. Wala talaga.”
Indeed, there was no quit in these Cool Smashers, even after the Petro Gazz Angels won the series-opener. Neither did they show any signs of quitting when the Angels claimed the first set in both Games 2 and 3. Instead, they just kept fighting. They kept grinding. They kept competing.
Yes, these Creamline Cool Smashers are hyper competitive. They may be all bubbly and personable and fun-loving, but when the bright lights are on and it is time to play, they only want one thing: to win.
Carlos knows that firsthand. She experienced it from day one. She sees it pretty much every day. And she wants all that smoke just the same.
“Isa rin sa mga ina-admire ko, lalung-lalo na nung pagpasok ko ng Creamline is ‘yung pagiging competitive ng bawat isa,” Carlos added. “‘Yung healthy competition na ikaw mismo, gusto mo sabayan ‘yung pagiging competitive ng team and ‘yung mindset na meron sila.”
Jema Galanza, who was named to the Premier Team alongside Carlos, echoed the MVP’s thoughts, nodding in agreement as she explained the Creamline mindset.
That competitive fire was on full display in Game 3, from Carlos and Galanza unleashing those powerful attacks to Jia De Guzman—always cool, calm, and collected—setting up her talented, dynamic hitters. Even Risa Sato, perhaps the bubbliest, fun-loving Cool Smasher of all, unleashed her inner beast, turning the tide in Creamline’s favor in the second set and providing the team quality minutes off the bench.
And all that competitiveness has led to this: another championship for the 'Happy Lang' gang.
