The PLDT High Speed Hitters are rallying behind their injured veteran.
The PLDT High Speed Hitters secured a must-win game against the still winless Gerflor Defenders, 25-18, 25-17, 26-14, to stay alive in the semifinals hunt of the PVL Invitational Conference.
That's after receiving a double blackeye on Thursday, when PLDT was swept by the defending champions Creamline Cool Smashers and lost veteran Jovy Prado to an apparent knee injury in the process.
"Actually, kagabi nag-iiyakan kami," PLDT libero Kath Arado said after the game.
The injured Prado herself gave the words of encouragement needed for the High Speed Hitters to bounce back.
"At the same time, pinagaan ni Ate Jovy 'yung loob namin. 'Kaya niyo 'yan. Naka-support lang ako lagi sa inyo. Kahit nasa sideline ako, mag-ga-guide lang ako as a senior,'" added Arado, recalling Prado's inspiring words to the team.
Those motivational words were enough to fire up the High Speed Hitters and gave them the strength to push forward and play despite only a day of rest.
"'Yun pa lang motivation sa amin na siya nga hindi sumusuko, bakit kami na naglalaro kumpleto pa, kaya pa namin. Ayun 'yung tumatak hanggang pagdating namin dito. 'Yung motivation namin si Ate Jovy," Arado said further.
Now, the motivated PLDT squad will have to put up an even greater fight as they face the Chery Tiggo Crossovers on Tuesday in a battle that will determine which team will go to the semifinals and which one will take an early, extended break.
