Back-to-back dominant wins for the Chargers.
The Akari Chargers remain in the hunt for a semifinal slot in the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference after taking down the Galeries Tower Highrisers in straight sets, 25-14, 25-21, 25-19, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
Following their emphatic victory over Gerflor in Cagayan de Oro, the Chargers followed that up with another dominant win as they improved to 5-4 in the standings, while keeping the Highrisers winless throughout the conference.
Fifi Sharma led the way for Akari with 12 points built on 10 attacks and two blocks.
After the match, the former De La Salle Lady Spiker shared what the team had been trying to achieve as they seemingly found their groove again.
“I feel like these past few games, our goal is really to try to rebuild our confidence because of course, we came from consecutive losses,” Sharma said during the post-game interview.
“This is a very fulfilling win kasi we finally feel right now na everyone’s working together and it’s manifesting in the court because we got a three-set win,” she added.
Sharma, who had to undergo a rather expensive mode of therapy, likewise credited her teammates for continuing to push on despite their up-and-down conference.
“What's good about my teammates is they realize na we have things to work on,” said Sharma. “I think this is also good kasi we get to know each other more through these losses kasi we overcome together as a team tapos eto nga, when we win, of course, we celebrate as a team.”
Akari will look to continue their push for a semifinal spot as they take on the Petro Gazz Angels on Saturday at the PhilSports Arena.
Galeries, meanwhile, will face off against the Farm Fresh Foxies on Tuesday.
