‘Hindi choosy’: Kyle Negrito grateful to teammates as Creamline punches ticket to PVL finals

Playing alongside some of PVL’s top spikers like Alyssa Valdez, Tots Carlos, and Jema Galanza is a luxury not every player enjoys.

That’s why the Creamline Cool Smashers’ Kyle Negrito couldn’t help but feel grateful that she has them by her side in her full conference as starting setter.

Negrito had this to say after the Cool Smashers pummelled the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, 26-24, 25-21, 25-21, in Game 2 of the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference semifinals to advance to the finals.

“Masasabi ko lang, sobrang patient. ‘Yang mga ‘yan, hindi choosy. Kahit anong set papaluin nila,” said Negrito, who took the major role this conference following the departure of former Best Setter Jia de Guzman.

“Grabe patience. Grabe confidence na binibigay sa ’kin,” she added.

With Negrito orchestrating the offense, the undefeated Cool Smashers did not drop a set in this series.

When asked about how they were able to pull that off, Negrito sang the same tune the Cool Smashers have sung the entire conference.

“I think talagang nag-trabaho lang kami. Simula sa training, alam naming hindi biro kalaban namin, so talagang  nag-prepare kami, nag-stick sa game plan. So happy na-execute namin siya today,” said Negrito, who finished with 18 excellent sets.

For now, the Cool Smashers also have the luxury of rest as they await the winner between Choco Mucho Flying Titans and the Cignal HD Spikers in the other semifinal pairing.

The finals will kick off on Thursday.

“Sa ngayon magpa-pahinga muna kami and manonood kami. Kung sino mang manalo, pag-aaralan na rin nang husto at pagtatrabahuhin naming maigi,” she said.

Game 3 between Choco Mucho and the HD Spikers is set on Tuesday.
