France Ronquillo showed resolve to lead the Galeries Tower Highrisers with a career-high 20 points in rout of the Farm Fresh Foxies in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
Galeries Tower may have already been eliminated from semis contention in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference, but the fight continues for France Ronquillo and the Highrisers.
For a team that only secured a single win in its maiden campaign in the Second All-Filipino Conference last season, every victory stands as a monumental achievement for the Galeries Tower franchise.
Ronquillo drew strength from such a winning desire on Saturday, delivering a career-high 20 points in the Highrisers’ straight-set rout of the also-ran Farm Fresh Foxies.
“Hindi ko inisip na eliminated na kami. Basta gusto ko lang mapakita ng team kung ano ‘yung tine-training namin araw araw,” said Ronquillo, who also had five digs and five receptions.
“For me po kasi, gusto ko lang makapaglaro, like magbigay po ng effort para sa team basta manalo po ‘yung team. Hindi ko ine-expect na ganyan po ‘yung score ko.”
The morale-boosting sweep did not just snap a two-game slide for Galeries Tower but also extended its franchise-best campaign to three wins in nine outings, good for solo ninth place.
For Ronquillo, dwelling on their previous losses serves no purpose. Instead, channeling all their energy into finishing their campaign strong is paramount.
“Hindi po namin hahayaang matapos ‘yung conference na ‘to na parang ipapakita po namin na ay, wala na talaga, talo na talaga. Ibibigay pa rin po namin best namin sa mga next games namin,” Ronquillo said.
Ronquillo and the rest of the Highrisers seek to build from this win as they attempt to upend contenders Petro Gazz and Chery Tiggo on April 20 and 25, respectively, to close out their campaign.
