Alyssa Valdez wants to make the most of another opportunity to represent the Philippines in the 2025 AVC Women's Champions League.
For the first time in nearly two years, Alyssa Valdez is representing the Philippines on the international volleyball stage.
The Creamline captain carried the flag on her chest as the Cool Smashers opened their campaign in the 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League with a sweep of Al Naser Club, 29-27, 25-20, 25-19, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig Sunday, April 20.
In typical Valdez fashion, the veteran spiker delivered, tallying 10 points built on seven attacks, two blocks and an ace to help Creamline start strong in front of the home crowd.

“Extra motivation talaga 'yong having the flag on our chest and representing the Creamline Cool Smashers as well,” Valdez said during the post-game press conference.
“Doble-doble 'yong motivation and inspiration to fight today.”

Though Valdez is no stranger to international competition, this opportunity still feels special, especially since it was something she never expected.
The last time the three-time PVL Most Valuable Player donned the Philippine jersey was in the 2023 Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia, where the country finished in fourth place.
“It’s very overwhelming for me just because I think it never crossed my mind to represent the Philippines again in any competition,” she shared.
“But we’ll take this. Not just me, but the whole Creamline Cool Smashers. We’re here because of the whole team din. Very overwhelmed but very excited and very happy to be able to represent.”

With a new opportunity to play for the country given to her, Valdez will be cherishing every minute on the taraflex, knowing it doesn’t come often.
“It’s just so nice to play always for the Philippines. We play like there’s no tomorrow all the time because these chances, opportunities, hindi naman all the time. So we’re going to grab it and try to represent the country well.”
Valdez and the Cool Smashers will be back on Monday, April 21, as they battle Kazakhstan’s Zhetysu VC with the Pool A top spot in mind.
