Wearing pink this time for the Akari Chargers, Ivy Lacsina took on a new role given by head coach Taka Minowa.

So far, so good.

“Inassign po ako ni coach Taka [Minowa] na maging game captain, so 'yung mindset ko po is mag-lead sa teammates ko,” Lacsina said in the aftermath of the Chargers' four-set win over the Capital1 Solar Spikers to open their PVL Reinforced Conference on Thursday, July 18.

Lacsina came out blazing hot in her first game in Akari, topscoring the squad with 20 points. She set the tone early for the retooled Chargers, who featured seven new players.

But Lacsina said there was only minimal to no adjustment, considering that she played under Minowa’s system back when they were in sister team Nxled.

“Siguro 'yung naging adjustments ko lang po is sa mga teammate, since may mga ate din po dito. Kailangan ko po siguro mag-build ng connections sa kanila,” she added.

Akari bucked a third set collapse and recovered just in time for the fourth to earn their first win in the import-laden conference.

As a showdown with crowd favorite Choco Mucho looms, Lacsina and Co. vow to work extra hard and work on their lapses to compete against the Flying Titans.
