Mika Reyes looks to improve her performances even further in helping the PLDT High Speed Hitters reach its title aspirations in the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference.
Mika Reyes’s return to the court during the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference has been crucial for the PLDT High Speed Hitters.
Returning from a right shoulder injury, Reyes has consistently delivered points and blocks for the High Speed Hitters, who are just two wins away from the Reinforced Conference crown.
In their thrilling quarterfinal match against the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, the 6-foot middle blocker scored several crucial points and blocks in the fifth set to seal PLDT's victory.
But even with her steady plays, Reyes still hopes to produce more for the High Speed Hitters.
“Personally, I'm very happy pero hindi ko pa rin 'yun magagawa without my teammates and coaches [pero] ako kasi, hindi pa rin talaga ako satisfied sa laro ko so I'm very grateful na sobrang patient nila sakin and 'yung tiwala na binibigay ng coaches,” Reyes told reporters.
It took some time for Reyes to find her stride again for PLDT after injuries struck the 30-year-old middle blocker twice over the past year, prompting her to sit out the last two conferences dating back to 2023.
Despite this, Reyes stayed patient and persevered to get back on the taraflex and find her form.
“Well, it takes time talaga pero kailangan mo lang mag-tiwala sa bawat isa kasi siyempre bilog naman 'yung bola. Hindi man sa lahat ng oras ay nasa taas ka so ngayon may opportunity kami para maka-abot sa goal namin, so mag-focus muna kami sa game namin on Thursday,” said Reyes.

PLDT will make just its third semifinal appearance on Thursday, August 29, when it faces the undefeated Akari Chargers.
Reyes and the rest of the High Speed Hitters are fueled by their past shortcomings, and they hope to turn those failures into success in this conference.
“Siguro hindi lang talaga kami tumitigil ever since, so kayo sabi niyo nga na kinakapos 'yung team pero 'yun din naman 'yung pinaghuhugutan namin ever since,” said Reyes.
