The Petro Gazz Angels overcame a slow start to power past the PLDT High Speed Hitters for their third straight win in the 2024-2025 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
The Petro Gazz Angels extended their winning streak to three games after downing the PLDT High Speed Hitters in four sets, 12-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-20, in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Tuesday, December 10.
The Angels bucked a slow start in the first set before powering their way past the High Speed Hitters led by the trio of Myla Pablo, Jonah Sabete, and Brooke Van Sickle.
MJ Phillips also made her return for the Angels after missing out on the 2024 Reinforced Conference due to a left foot injury.
In the fourth set, Petro Gazz built themselves a four-point lead at 13-9 courtesy of Pablo’s spike after an over-receive by Kath Arado.
Savi Davison tried to keep her team alive, but Van Sickle had an answer for every PLDT rally.
Ahead 22-18, Phillips and Sabete pushed the Angels to match point before Pablo closed the game out with an off-the-block hit.
Van Sickle led the way with 21 points built on 18 attacks, two blocks, one service ace, to go along with 12 excellent digs.
With the win, Petro Gazz moves to 4-1 in the standings for second place, while PLDT drops to a 3-2 record after being dealt back-to-back losses.
Petro Gazz will play one more game before the Christmas break as they face the undefeated Cignal HD Spikers on Saturday, December 14 at the PhilSports Arena.
Meanwhile, PLDT will be back when the PVL resumes on January 18 as they face the Akari Chargers in the same venue.
