As two athletes who are often apart due to their professional commitments, their relationship is a perfect example of how to inspire and motivate each other while maintaining a strong and enduring connection.
In this Valentine’s Day edition of Off the Record, Kianna opened up to One Sports about how Dwight has been a huge source of strength during her successful recovery from injury, and how their relationship is thriving even from afar.

One Sports: Kianna, as athletes, how do you and Dwight inspire and support each other in your respective journeys?
Kianna Dy: He’s good that he’s an athlete and he understands what I’m going through. I understand what he’s going through.
Their shared experience as athletes gives them a unique bond, allowing them to deeply understand the pressures and challenges each faces.
OS: Kianna, when it comes to love and support, how did Dwight help you during your rehab journey?
Kianna: There are times when, you know, I’m not gonna lie, sometimes I just want to give up.
He always pushes me, saying that I’ve reached this far already and I’m getting there. He motivates me a lot. It works.

OS: Being in a long-distance relationship, how do you both keep the connection strong?
Kianna: We just communicate a lot, messaging each other, updating each other.
Long-distance relationships require extra effort, and Kianna and Dwight make it work by staying connected.
The small but meaningful gestures—like messaging and keeping each other updated—are what help them nurture their bond, even when miles apart.
OS: And what about supporting each other’s passions?
Kianna: I motivate [him] also, watching his games, with Gilas [Pilipinas] games here. And supporting him on what he does here.

OS: It sounds like your relationship keeps growing. How would you describe it now?
Kianna: Mas naging mature ‘yong relationship namin. We’re getting older. Nothing really changed, it’s just the same as what we started.
OS: What’s your love language? How does quality time show up in your relationship?
Kianna: Quality time!
OS: How about Dwight’s love language?
Kianna: Same, it does not have to be physical, even FaceTime, watch a movie together. It’s quality time already.
This Valentine’s Day, Kianna and Dwight remind us that love doesn’t always need to be near; sometimes, it’s in the small things, the understanding, and the constant support that keeps the spark alive, no matter the distance.
