Kianna Dy's first point couldn't have come at a better time for PLDT, as her presence lifted the High Speed Hitters past the Creamline Cool Smashers in their five-set PVL thriller.
Kim Kianna Dy’s first point for the PLDT High Speed Hitters couldn’t have come at a better time.
Tied at eight-all against the Creamline Cool Smashers in the fifth set, Dy came up with a huge kill block on Jema Galanza.
Dy’s rejection seemingly gave the High Speed Hitters an extra boost as they went to pull off the five-set victory, dealing the Cool Smashers' first loss in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
After the match, the 29-year-old spiker shared her thoughts on her first point for PLDT since returning from her lengthy recovery from injury.
“Kita naman na feel na feel ko. Grabe ‘yung celebration ko. But it is my first point as a High Speed Hitter and also my first point after being out for a long time,” Dy told One Sports.
“It really felt good and sana tuloy-tuloy na.”

But more than just her first point, the former DLSU star also relished being part of the five-set thriller, with all the drama and emotions being felt in the match.
“Sobra. That’s what I missed the most, ‘yung dikitan na game and kailangan talaga manalo. Everything—the environment, the feels inside the court—I really missed that a lot after not playing for a long time. Feels good to experience it again,” she shared.
During the final set, Dy also got a chance to be with her former La Salle and now-PLDT teammates Majoy Baron, Mika Reyes, and Kim Fajardo.
The four won a UAAP championship together back in Season 78.

Given their familiarity with one another, Dy knew exactly where to position herself at all times in the court.
“Of course, it really felt good to be with my former college teammates. I guess nandun pa ‘yung like muscle memory to be with each other like alam na namin gagawin together, so that really helped a lot sa mga end ng fifth set,” Dy explained.
Being under legendary coach Ramil de Jesus, Dy, along with Baron, Reyes, and Fajardo, all know what it takes to secure the final set and the victory.
“I guess it’s just who really wants it more and sinong hindi bibitaw. I guess ‘yun ‘yung nadala namin as a former Lasallian kasi nandun na kami eh, we’re at the moment already and ‘wag na kaming bibitaw,” said Dy.
