Savi Davison left it all on the court for PLDT.

But despite her 34-point explosion, the High Speed Hitters fell short once more against the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in a grueling five-set battle, 25-15, 12-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-13, in Game 2 of the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference quarterfinals on Thursday night.

After the tough loss, Davison struggled to find the right words to describe the emotions of PLDT’s abrupt exit.

“Parang no words. It was a long [conference], and we just got, I guess, the tougher bracket. But we’re not here to complain, we’re here to play," Davison told reporters after the match. "It boils down to the last couple of points, and they just weren’t in our favor.”

The Fil-Canadian standout also admitted that her mind immediately went to the errors she committed at the most critical juncture of the match.

Davison powered PLDT to an early 5-1 lead in the deciding fifth set, single-handedly scoring all five points in a fiery start.  However, crucial attack errors haunted her late in the game, allowing the Flying Titans to stage an 8-1 rally that shifted the momentum.

Choco Mucho then capitalized, with Sisi Rondina and Mars Alba sealing the match and securing the last semifinal spot.

“Actually, my mind goes to the errors I had—the three, four errors in the fifth set. It’s hard kasi you want to win so bad, but you have to keep it in the court," Davison reflected. "It’s do or die. Unfortunately, we didn’t do.”

Despite the painful loss, Davison emphasized the importance of teamwork and the collective effort it takes to bring home a championship in the PVL.

“It takes a village—coaches, management—to really pull through. It just goes to show that regardless of one person, you need everybody," Davison emphasized. "We played really well today, but like I said, it didn’t swing in our favor.”

The disappointment was even harder to bear given the long road PLDT endured throughout the conference, only to fall short by the slimmest of margins.

“The feeling is heavy. You don’t have any words to describe it," she admitted. "The conference was so long, and it just boiled down to two, three points in the last two games. It’s something hard to swallow."

With PLDT’s All-Filipino campaign now in the rearview mirror, Davison is shifting her focus to the upcoming 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League, where she and the High Speed Hitters will get a chance to compete on an international stage.

“It helps because now, we get to look forward to something else," said Davison. "It’s a very big tournament. It gives us an opportunity to show our talents on a different platform, and that’s a really good experience to look forward to.”

Despite the heartbreak, Davison remains optimistic that the lessons from this conference will serve them well in the international tilt.

“Knowing that we’re that close, knowing that we can compete, we just gotta bring that to the AVC. Hopefully, it won’t be as heart-wrenching, but it’s always an opportunity to learn,” said Davison.
