5 players we want to see in the PVL this year

5 players we want to see in the PVL this year

How do you think would these volleyball stars fare in the league? Here are some (likely and unlikely) players we want to see in the league this 2023.

Sisi Rondina & Bernadette Pons

Who doesn’t miss Sisi Rodina and Bernadette Pons on the hardcourt? While they’ve had success in beach volleyball, winning in the PVL must feel different. There have been rumors of their return to indoor volleyball and possibly joining a PVL team. We’re definitely hoping that happens sooner rather than later.

Cha Cruz

Cha Cruz’s moniker was Ms. Everything. That’s because she was a complete package on both ends of the court. During her time with F2 Logistics, back when they were still competing at the Philippine Superliga, Cruz won three championships with the team. Who’s to say that her leadership and skill can’t bring home another title for the Cargo Movers?

Gretchen Ho

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Gretchen Ho play professional volleyball. She last played in 2016 at the Beach Volleyball Republic, but possibly seeing her in the PVL would bring back some nostalgia for those who fell in love with the sport in the early 2010s. Even now, fans would likely pay to see Ho play in the PVL — maybe with the Creamline Cool Smashers?

NU Lady Bulldogs

UAAP student-athletes will no longer be permitted to play in professional and semi-professional leagues come Season 86. But with the NU Lady Bulldogs being a step above everyone in the UAAP, it begs the question: Can they win against a PVL team?

Given how ultra-talented and competitive the Lady Bulldogs are, fans can definitely expect them to put a fight against the likes of Creamline and Petro Gazz.

DLSU Lady Spikers

We’ve seen the Lady Spikers go up against the F2 Logistics during their offseason matches, but what about going up against other PVL teams? This author thinks that would make for some exciting matches. Like the Lady Bulldogs, the Lady Spikers boasts some incredible talents in their roster. Given some time in the PVL, they would be able to compete against the best of the best.
