Gaston has lots to be thankful for following her new chapter with Chery Tiggo.
After staying on the bench during Chery Tiggo Crossover’s first win versus the Cignal HD Spikers, Pauline Gaston was finally called up for the team in their victory over the Army Lady Troopers.
Gaston ended up with eight points and seven excellent receptions to help the Crossovers remain undefeated in the PVL All-Filipino Conference so far.
On Instagram, Gaston posted about being thankful for her previous chapter in life, paying tribute as well to her father, Fritz.
As she made the switch to Chery Tiggo, Gaston also decided to switch up her jersey number to 22, which she says is to honor her father, who played in the PBA back in the 1980s.
“Kasi yung dad ko yung athlete sa family namin, so I want to use him as an inspiration kasi nakapag-laro siya ng professional basketball. So, ako rin, hindi lahat ng tao nabibigyan ng ganitong chance,” said Gaston.
The 25-year-old outside hitter added that her dad continuously pushes her to achieve her dreams.
“I kind of owe it to him kasi never niya ako pinabayaan, and siya yung lagi nagpu-push sakin na kahit ang dami ko nang na-try na sports, pinu-push niya pa rin ako to follow my dreams,” said Gaston.
While Chery Tiggo prepares for their next match, Gaston said that she is always staying ready to help contribute to the team.
“I super trust the process. Alam ko may plano sila,” said Gaston. “Kahit hindi ako ginamit nung first game, baka hindi yun yung tamang time na ipapasok ako. Maganda yung pinakita ng teammates ko nung first game, so alam ko na I'll have my chance and I'm happy na talaga binigyan nila ako ng chance.”
Clearly, that process is doing Gaston a whale of good.
