Angel Canino downplayed the on-court antics between her and Bella Belen in the aftermath of the De La Salle University Lady Spikers’ 18-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-21, 15-13 win over the National University Lady Bulldogs in Game 1 of the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball finals on Sunday.
The two were seen exchanging staredowns in the thick of the classic contest that went the distance at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Canino downplayed them.
“It’s part of the game naman as usual,” said Canino, who finished with 21 points on 19 attacks and 2 aces.
“Kung ano nakikita ninyo sa loob, laro lang 'yun. Sa labas, magkaibigan po kaming lahat.”
In the end, Canino had the last laugh as the Lady Spikers claimed the opener. But the job’s not done.
“Actually, it’s very emotional kasi alam naming araw-araw namin ‘to goal sasarili namin na manalo ng finals. And finally nanalo kami ng Game 1 pero hindi pa kami titigil dahil may next game pa,” she said.
La Salle has a chance to close out the series on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
