It's the turn of the University of the East to light it up for the UAAP.
The theme of UAAP Season 86, "Fueling the Future," was unveiled on Friday, setting the stage for the University of the East's [UE] hosting.
It is also a declaration that the collegiate season will be in full force and in full swing with the eight member schools' return to full onsite mode after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Recall that UAAP Season 84, hosted by the De La Salle University, only held seven events due to the global health crisis. Season 85, organized by Adamson University, brought back the full athletic calendar.
The University of Santo Tomas was hailed as the overall seniors and juniors champion. The Ateneo Blue Eagles and the NU Lady Bulldogs lifted the trophy in basketball, while the Bulldogs and the De La Salle Lady Spikers won the volleyball championships.
"With the theme 'Fueling the Future,' UAAP Season 86 underscores its commitment to being the driving force behind the development of future professional athletes and national team mainstays," the UAAP said in a statement about the upcoming season.
"It proudly serves as the stepping stone, the training ground, and the building block for athletes who aspire to reach the pinnacle of their careers."
A new season, of course, also means a new logo, and that of Season 86 features splashes of color meant to evoke the "sparks that ignite passion and excitement."
"This colorful array symbolizes the unity and diversity that define the UAAP community," the statement explained.
UE is looking to kick off the season by the end of September starting with men's basketball.
