KQ emerged on top of the MVP race after the first round. The versatile big man garnered 84.71 statistical points (SPs) after averaging 16.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.1 blocks, according to league statistician Pong Ducanes.
Running behind the reigning Rookie of the Year is UP Fighting Maroons center and reigning MVP Malick Diouf with 78.14 SPs. In leading State U to a 6-1 win-loss card, the Senegal native averaged 13.2 points, 14.7 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks.
Quiambao's teammate, senior Evan Nelle, is in third place with 74.16 SPs.

The 22-year-old Quiambao is on track to become only the fifth La Salle player in UAAP history to be named MVP after Jun Limpot, Mark Telan, Don Allado, and Ben Mbala.
UE Red Warriors guard Rey Remogat, the league's top scorer, and FEU Tamaraws veteran L-Jay Gonzales rounded out the top five of the MVP race with 73.71 and 66.42 SPs, respectively.
