The Fighting Maroons will have plenty of talent at their disposal in the coming seasons.
The UP Fighting Maroons help secure their future, adding a sniper to their already-deep roster.
On Tuesday, Fighting Maroons officially welcomed Filipino-American Miguel Yniguez.
The transfer was made official during a US recruitment trip by UP coach Goldwin Monteverde and UP Office for Athletics and Sports Development Director Bo Perasol.
The 6-foot-5 sharpshooting wing spent the last year playing for San Francisco State in the US NCAA Division II.
Yniguez is set to play for UP after his residency, where he will have four seasons to play for the Fighting Maroons beginning in UAAP Season 88.
Monterverde, for one, is excited to have Yniguez on board.
"We're looking forward to the contributions na mabibigay ni Miguel sa'tin. Matagal na nating nakitang he can be a big help for our team so it's good na tuloy na tuloy na nga," Monteverde said in a statement.
Yniguez is not new to the UP system, having already played a game for UP in the 2023 Pinoyliga Collegiate Cup last July.
"I am beyond blessed to announce that I am committing to the University of the Philippines. To everyone who has helped me continue my journey, maraming-maraming salamat po,” said Yniguez.
The Fighting Maroons are looking to regain the UAAP crown after falling short in the Finals two seasons in a row.
