Far Eastern University sustained its winning ways, pummeling University of the East, 25-22, 25-17, 25-15, to roll to its third straight win in the UAAP season 86 men's volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Sunday, Feb. 25.

The Tamaraws thus grabbed a solo hold of the early lead after University of Santo Tomas absorbed its first loss against La Salle in the second match to drop to second at 2-1.

The Green Spikers took advantage of the Golden Spikers' erratic display to hack out a 26-24, 23-25, 25-21, 25-15, victory, their second in three outings for an identical mark with their conquered foe.

Jayjay Javelona paced the Tamaraws with 13 points built on 11 attacks and two blocks in the three-set romp while Martin Bugaoan added 11 markers.

FEU outdueled the Red Warriors in all but one of the departments as UE skidded to 0-3 for solo eighth.

John Paul Mangahis was the lone double-digit scorer for the Recto-based squad with 10 points.

Meanwhile, DLSU bounced back from its first loss against the Tamaraws, 25-18, 20-25, 25-22, 25-17, last Wednesday, Feb. 21, as they capitalized on the Golden Spikers' 40 errors.

The Green Spikers kept theirs to 24 while also turning to their blocking to take down UST.

DLSU came through with eight denials anchored on Vince Maglinao's five to negate the Golden Spikers, who only had three, at the net.

Maglinao and John Mark Ronquillo put in 16 points each for the Green Spikers to backstop Noel Kampton who led with 18 points and 14 excellent receptions.

Josh Ybanez struck with 20 points but failed to get able support from the rest of UST squad, with Jay De La Noche coming in as the second-best scorer with nine.

GBoy De Vega chipped in eight markers before exiting in the second set due to ankle injury he sustained after landing on the foot of his teammate following a block attempt.

Golden Spikers mentor Odjie Mamon was also handed a red card in that frame for continuous complaining to the referee.
