The FEU Lady Tamaraws inch closer to a Final Four finish after their four-set victory over the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament on Thursday, April 4.
Far Eastern University is nearing its return to the Final Four in five years after their crucial four-set win over Ateneo De Manila University, 19-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-22, in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament on Thursday, April 4.
The win moved the Lady Tamaraws to a 5-4 record in the standings, several games above the Ateneo Blue Eagles (3-7) and the Adamson Lady Falcons (2-7).
But as big as their victory may be over the Blue Eagles, coach Manolo Refugia is already warning his team against complacency,
"'Yun naman 'yung goal pero siyempre, hindi naman porket sinabi na nanalo kami ngayon ay tapos na agad 'yung usapan. So meron pa rin kaming kailangan trabahuin na ibang teams," Refugia said during the post-game press conference.
"Hindi puwede maging complacent porket tinalo namin si Ateneo today. Siyempre 'yung iba rin naman ay gusto pa ring manalo, so trabaho pa rin," he added.
With five more games in the elimination round for FEU, setter Tin Ubaldo, who finished with 26 excellent sets to go along with five points in the victory, looks to continue motivating her teammates as they achieve their goal of making the postseason.
"Minomotivate ko sila pag kunware si Faida [Bakanke] nado-down siya, binubulungan ko lang siya na, 'Faida, it's okay.' Lagi kami may line na sinasabi, 'let's make bawi.' Nandito kami to cover dun sa mga may nado-down, laging ganun," said Ubaldo.
The Lady Tamaraws will face Adamson next on Tuesday, April 9 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum at 2:00 p.m.
