Birds of a feather do flock together as twins Cade and Austin Ronzone aim to prove this right all along with the Adamson Soaring Falcons.
Five players departed the Adamson University (AdU) Soaring Falcons this offseason led by the King Falcon himself, Jerom Lastimosa.
In return, five players are also set to flap their wings this coming Season 87, including the much-touted recruits in twins Cade and Austin Ronzone.
“It’s an honor to play here,” Austin bared in an exclusive interview with One Sports.
The Ronzone twins committed to Adamson last year in the middle of the Soaring Falcons’ Season 86 campaign.
That outing saw Adamson finish with an even 7-7 win loss record and barely miss the Final Four after losing to the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the playoff for the no. 4 seed.
Both products of Arizona State University, the twins take pride in being two-way guards who are also capable of creating plays for their teammates.
“I’m like a point guard who likes to get up and down, likes to pass the ball, play defense and do a lot of things and also score when I can,” Cade spoke when asked to describe his playing style
“My playing style is I like to defend, pick up full court and shoot the ball. I love shooting, I love scoring, but I know when I defend, at least [some] opportunities on the other side. I like to do both," Austin explained when asked the same question.
He also shared how they ended up playing with the Soaring Falcons, adding that they wanted to explore the Filipino roots they got from their mother.
“It started like a year ago, we started talking about coming to the Philippines. We’ve always wanted to come to the Philippines. Our family is from here and to just play in front of them and to get closer to our grandma’s side, our mother’s side.”
Now playing under coach Nash Racela, the 22-year-old ballers vow to go all-in to help Soaring Falcons go a deep playoff run once and for all.
The last time Adamson reached the Finals was 1992 where they lost to eventual champions FEU Tamaraws.
“Now that we’re here, we’re just giving our all every day, 100 percent. We're gonna come in, do the little things, play defense [and] whatever we can to help the team win.” Austin said.
“Off the court, we’re gonna do whatever we can for the community, represent the Adamson family and represent ourselves the best that we can.”
Losing Lastimosa and key players in Vince Magbuhos, Joem Sabandal, and Didat Hanapi just make Adamson’s journey even tougher.
But just as one door closed, another one opened and the Ronzone twins might be the answer the Soaring Falcons needed to end a 47-year title drought.
