UST head coach Kungfu Reyes expressed his excitement as the Golden Tigresses feature a talented group of rookies in the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament.
The UAAP Season 87 volleyball tournament is just around the corner, and the excitement is already building up.
During the press conference last Thursday, UST head coach Kungfu Reyes couldn’t hide his enthusiasm for the UST Golden Tigresses as they prepare to showcase their talents with a promising rookie lineup.
“From Mini Miss U to Miss Universe,” Coach Kungfu playfully shared.
“Hopefully, we make it to the Final Four, and we’ve got some great rookies this season,” he added. "Especially with the injuries we’ve had, this season marks a new phase for UST."
Coach Kungfu is aiming for the rookies to step up this season, especially with key players like Jona Perdido and Xyza Gula out due to injury.

With some of the main players sidelined, the pressure is on the newcomers to take on bigger and more active roles--especially after the UST Golden Tigresses went to the finals in UAAP Season 86.
The UST Golden Tigresses will kick off their UAAP Season 87 campaign against the FEU Lady Tamaraws on February 15 at 3:00 p.m. at MOA Arena.
