The NU Lady Bulldogs have a surplus of MVPs that keeps on getting better and better.
The UAAP Women's Volleyball defending champions NU Lady Bulldogs jumpstarted their back-to-back crown bid with a straight-set demolition of the Ateneo Blue Eagles. At the helm of that attack is Season 84 Best Opposite Spiker Alyssa Solomon, who is coming off a very strong preseason campaign.
Solomon was named Shakey's Super League Collegiate Preseason Conference MVP last November, and the 21-year-old spiker continues to get better.
In NU's sweep of Ateneo, Solomon tallied 12 points behind 10 attacks, 1 ace and 1 block. Unsurprisingly, the key to Solomon's success has been nonstop work.
"Lagi lang po akong nagta-trabaho sa kailangan kong i-improve. Kung anong nakita kong kulang noong preseason, ‘yun ‘yung tinrabaho ko this season," Solomon said.
If the trend continues, the Lady Bulldogs might produce another MVP following last year's rookie-MVP Bella Bellen's ascension to league's top dog level.
The defending champions are still heavy favorites to win it all this season. But Solomon and the rest of the champion squad are not counting their eggs this early.
"Hindi kami magse-settle kasi marami pa rin kaming kailangang i-improve."
