Alas Pilipinas will be rewarded for their hard work throughout the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup.
Fresh off their historic bronze medal finish in the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup, Alas Pilipinas will have extra sweetener for their celebration ahead.
The PNVF confirmed that Alas Pilipinas players and coaches will receive P200,000 each from Senator Bong Go, through the Philippine Sports Commission’s (PSC) financial support.
Go, chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, was present during the national team’s dominant straight-sets victory over Australia, 25-23, 25-15, 25-7, at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum on Wednesday, May 29.
Also present were Sen. Pia Cayetano, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, and Leyte 4th District Rep. Richard Gomez.
This newest iteration of the national team, re-branded to Alas Pilipinas, was formed just two weeks prior to the tournament. Despite the short preparation time, the Filipinas overcame the odds to bring home the country’s first international podium finish since 2019, and first medal in an AVC-sanctioned event since 1961.
