No time to waste for Gilas Pilipinas.
Gilas Pilipinas' European training is on.
The Philippine men's basketball team started their practice in Estonia on Friday night.
According to coach Chot Reyes' Instagram story, the team was still at Istanbul Airport by 4:49 am. It would have been another three and a half hours of flight to get to Estonia.
By night, Gilas Pilipinas hit the court for their very first training session overseas for the upcoming FIBA World Cup.
Reyes' Instagram story showed that the national team was warming up inside the Spordiklubi Nord at 6:22 p.m. (which was 11 p.m. in Manila).
One Sports correspondent Carlo Pamintuan, who is following Gilas Pilipinas in its training camp, also shared a five-minute Gilas shootaround video via Facebook live.
Coaches Chot Reyes and Tim Cone will have to work their magic to shape Gilas Pilipinas into a battle-ready condition in just two months.
Reyes admits they will probably receive tons of beating in their planned tuneup games, but assured it's all part of the process to growing stronger.
Cone knows these tough matches will help the team, and even cited how Gilas should at least match the preparations of Italy.
Still without Kai Sotto and Jordan Clarkson, the national team will still have to form an identity of some sort in the very pivotal camp.
No worries about dedication and the amount of motivation though, because the players have enough reason to power them through this tough mission.
