Chinese-Taipei is coming off a 2-2 draw against Thailand.
Riding the crest of a 1-0 win over Nepal, the Azkals are bracing for what is expected to be a cutthroat battle against Chinese Taipei.
None less than Azkals coach Michael Weiss expressed his worries against their next foes on home turf on Monday.
“Chinese-Taipei has a very experienced coach. He knows what he’s doing with the personnel he has at hand,” Weiss said in a pre-match press conference, referring to counterpart Gary White.
“We have to always be watching out and never be too sure or take things for granted.”
Under White’s watch, Chinese-Taipei held its own against powerhouse Thailand in a friendly which ended in a 2-2 draw last Friday.
That’s why Weiss is wary of the East Asian country, which he described as “quick in transition” and “physically strong.”
“My expectation is that this will be an even tougher match because Chinese-Taipei showcased in a very good manner in their recent game against Thailand,” said the returning coach.
Although the Azkals are still getting their groove back, the seasoned tactician is confident they will have a better showing.
"What I can promise is we'll have a good, confident, and joyous team," he said
