Filipina tennis rising star Alex Eala continues her climb in the Tennis world rankings.
Filipina tennis rising star Alex Eala set her highest-ever Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) ranking as she jumped to no. 180 on Monday.
Eala climbed eight spots from her previous ranking of 188, surpassing her former best of 184 last January 29. She also recorded a career-high ranking of 293 in doubles from 303, a rise of 10 spots.

In the recently concluded W75 Porto tournament in Portugal, the 18-year-old Eala reached the quarterfinals but bowed to Hungary’s Anna Bondar, losing 4-6, 7-6, 1-6.
Additionally, she and her partner Ali Collin of Great Britain exited the doubles quarterfinals with a 3-6, 4-6 defeat to Alicia Barnett and Anna-Len Friedsam.
Having secured her first International Tennis Federation (ITF) doubles title at the W50 Pune in India in January, Eala is aiming for her inaugural singles title of the year and her fifth overall.
Eala is currently competing in the W50 Trnava in Slovakia where she is set to face off the second-seeded Bondar again in the first round of the $50,000 tournament on Wednesday.
Eala will also participate in doubles with her partner Zeynep Somnez of Turkey, taking on China’s Tang Qianhui and Chinese Taipei’s Liang En Shuo in the opening round.
