Despite the quick turnaround, Jen Nierva and the rest of Alas Pilipinas are looking to make waves in the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup.
Despite the short preparations, Alas Pilipinas are ready and willing to compete in the upcoming 2024 AVC Challenge Cup.
During the national team's presentation on Monday, May 20, at the Makati Shangri-La, libero Jen Nierva couldn't help but praise her teammates for their strong bond and unwavering readiness to represent the country in the international joust that start Wednesday.
"This is the first time na na-feel ko na everybody here na talagang willingly they want to be part of the national team. Narinig ko from them na talagang sila 'yung nagsabi mismo kay coach na, 'Coach, I want to be part of the national team,'" said Nierva.
"That step is really a big step na you willingly want to be part of the national team. 'Yun 'yung talaga gusto and maganda ipakita sa mga bata," she added.
While Alas Pilipinas may boast a younger squad filled with several UAAP stars, Nierva confidently shared that they have seamlessly adapted to coach Jorge de Brito's system, thanks to the guidance of their experienced leaders, Jia de Guzman and Dawn Macandili-Cantidig.
"Sa training pa lang namin, nakikita ko na parang hindi ganun kalaki 'yung adjustments because we have our ates who are great leaders na isang sabi lang nila and 'yung mga bata kami, great followers also," said Nierva.

"I really am excited sa magiging journey namin and this opportunity na hindi lahat nabibigyan. We're very grateful and honored to be here to be given a chance to represent the country, so I definitely believe na malayo mararating ng team." said Nierva.
