Canada continues its solid form in the 2024 VNL Manila Leg after a clean straight-set victory over Germany, 25-19, 25-18, 25-20, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Thursday, June 20.

Fresh off their impressive five-set victory over Japan on Tuesday, the Canadians were blazing hot against the Germans, who also pulled off an incredible upset win over France on Wednesday.

In the third set, Canada blasted to an early 10-3 lead powered by Stephen Maar and Arthur Szwarc.

The Canadians' total team effort, both on offense and defense, allowed them to build their lead by as much as nine points to 15-6.

Germany, led by Moritz Reichert and Moritz Karlitzek, tried to mount a comeback after scoring five straight points to cut the lead to four.

But in the end, Canada proved too much, as Szwarc and middle blocker Lucas Van Berkel put the finishing touches on the win.

Szwarc and Maar led the attack for Canada with 15 points apiece. Eric Loeppky added 11 markers in the big win.

Karlitzek was Germany’s lone double-digit scorer with 13 points on 12 attacks and one service ace.
