The Philippine Azkals made a triumphant return to the international stage after drubbing Hong Kong, 6-1 in the Asia 7’s Championships on Thursday, October 10.

Mark Hartmann opened the scoring spree early on for Azkals in the game at the EV Arena in Elmina, Malaysia.

There was no stopping the Filipino booters from there.

The Philippines plays in 7-a-side format where teams will field in seven players each on a pitch that is smaller than normal.

The Azkals wrap up Thursday’s double-header against host team Malaysia at 10pm.

Bunched with India, Malaysia, and Hong Kong in Group B, the Philippines takes on India at 5:30pm on Friday, October 11 for its final assignment in the initial round.

Before flying to Malaysia for the October 9-12 competition, celebrities convened in the Azkals Celebrity Cup to support the national team.

Stephan Schrock also graced the exhibition match in Taguig on Sunday, October 6.
