Jason Brickman is returning to the Philippines after five years, with the veteran point guard set to join Strong Group Athletics for the 34th Dubai International Basketball Championship.
After five years, veteran playmaker Jason Brickman is set to make his return to Philippine basketball as he joins Strong Group Athletics for the 34th Dubai International Basketball Championship, slated to go from January 24 to February 2, 2025.
This move reunites the 6-foot floor general with head coach Charles Tiu, under whom he previously played for at Mighty Sports from 2016 to 2020. Their initial partnership includes a victorious run in the same Dubai tournament back in 2020.
"Thrilled to be working with him again. I’ve won two championships with him, and you won’t find a purer point guard than him,” said Strong Group head coach Charles Tiu.
“He’ll be great for our team. He’s a fantastic player, and we’ve been trying to make this happen for a while, so I’m glad we finally got the chance."
Now 33 years old, Brickman recently completed a four-year stint with the Kaohsiung Aquas in Taiwan’s T1 League.
During his time there, he led the Aquas to the 2021-22 championship, earning Best Import accolades. He was also a two-time T1 League First Team honoree and topped the league in assists during the 2021-22 and 2023-24 seasons.
The Aquas released Brickman in December 2024.
Brickman will now join forces with former NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins in Strong Group’s redemption campaign, as they aim to reclaim the Dubai crown after finishing as runners-up last year.
