From basking in the sun in Boracay to basking in the glory of a coveted PBA title.

That’s how one can sum up TNT Tropang Giga import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson’s campaign in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

Before getting the TNT gig, he was taking a break from the Korean Basketball League in the pristine beaches of Boracay.

Things were not working out with the prolific reinforcement in South Korea, so he took a leap of faith and flew to the Philippines without signing a single contract.

That time, TNT was already on a roll with Jalen Hudson. While the latter was a bona fide scorer, coach Jojo Lastimosa was looking for someone who could do more.

Enter Hollis-Jefferson.

Apart from scoring, the former Brooklyn Net can get his teammates going by distributing the rock well. Lastimosa even acknowledged it was even key in TNT regaining its shooting in Game 2 of the best-of-seven finale against erstwhile defending champions Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

With the newly-minted Best Import at the forefront of the team’s assault, the Tropang Giga went on the win the championship.

“It worked out for the best,” he said after giving the Tropang Giga their first ever title in the season-ending conference.

While fans would love to see him don the TNT jersey again next season or maybe become the resident import, it’s all still up in the air for now.
