The Lethal Weapon posted 21 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists, and 2 steals to launch his pro career.
Paul Lee is set to enter his 12th PBA season later this year. Undeniably, he has become one of the best cagers of his generation. His offensive game continues to be a problem for the defenders, and the accolades he has garnered over the years make him a top-tier superstar of the league. The three-time PBA champion and 2016 Commissioner’s Cup Finals MVP has experienced tremendous success as a professional hooper, and it all started with a spectacular PBA debut.
On Wednesday night, Lee was able to look back on his fantastic first game in Asia’s oldest professional basketball league after he found write-ups about him from 2011.
“Time flies. Forever grateful and thankful to Coach Yeng [Guiao],” Lee wrote in a caption.
Of course, he thanked Rain or Shine drillmaster Yeng Guiao for giving a rookie like him a chance to prove his worth. The 34-year-old scorer then gave his old man a shout-out for keeping old news clippings that featured some of his best games.
“Tinatago pala ng tatay ko ‘yung mga newspaper na may write-up sa akin,” he added.
On his Instagram, he shared a photo of a game story recapping the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters’ showdown against Barangay Ginebra San Miguel at the beginning of the PBA’s 37th season. It was a special moment for the former UE Red Warrior as he was able to lead his squad to a 94-93 victory over his favorite player Mark Caguioa and the PBA’s most popular team.
The 48th season of the PBA is scheduled to tip off this October. Lee, now a member of the Magnolia Hotshots, will surely look to add more highlights to his illustrious career.
