Their bond was forged in the crucibles of the PBA court.
Once upon a time, Jimmy Alapag, Harvey Carey, and Jared Dillinger terrorized the PBA as part of the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters. As a result, they won five titles together from 2008 to 2013. Sharing an experience like that forms relationships that will definitely stand the test of time.
Fast forward to the 2022-2023 NBA season, years removed from their heyday, Alapag, Carey, and Dillinger linked up once again, although in a totally different setting. Still, they shared that joyous, exhilarating feeling, similar to when they won all those chips back in the day.
On Saturday at the Golden 1 Center, the Sacramento Kings took on the visiting Golden State Warriors. Jimmy Alapag was at the Sacramento bench, serving as the team’s player development coach. Watching from the stands was his old TNT teammate and best friend Harvey Carey.
The 6-foot-3 bruiser made sure to holler at his boy, to which the legendary point guard responded by throwing up a peace sign.
Carey captured the moment through Instagram and Alapag reposted it on his own IG story.
“Ok, pare ko,” the retired power forward said.
Dillinger who’s in the Philippines as he’s still playing for the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, caught the Kings-Warriors game as well. While watching it on TV, he saw the camera pan to Alapag, which made him all giddy and excited. The Daredevil was quick to record the whole thing on his phone.
Once again, Alapag reposted the whole thing on his IG stories.
“Still wild to me, pare ko,” Dillinger wrote.
After losing to the Warriors, the Kings now are 1-1 in the standings of the young NBA season.
Carey, Dillinger, and the rest of Alapag’s supporters, however, might get wilded out some more in the future. The way things are going for Jimmy, it doesn’t look impossible at all that he’d doing bigger things in the NBA someday.
