His savage move deserves more love.
Chris Ross is never scared when he’s out there on the hardwood.
Despite not being known as a great shooter, San Miguel Beermen’s veteran floor general doesn’t mind stepping up to the plate to hit crucial outside buckets. He’s made quite a few of them.
In short, nailing those ballsy shots is in Ross’ DNA.
His admirable audacity—you can call it irrational confidence if you want—was on full display during a well-received out-of-town game between the Beermen and the Converge FiberXers in Tiaong, Quezon last Saturday in the PBA Commissioner's Cup.
It happened during the waning moments of the first half. Ross, a two-time Finals MVP, used a Mo Tautuaa screen, dribbled to the left wing, and unleashed a high-arching long bomb.
Before the ball went through the hoop, Ross turned to the FiberXers bench before running back on defense. It gave SMB a 50-35 lead.
It really looked like the 38-year-old guard’s version of Stephen Curry’s signature look-away three-pointer. But Ross seems to have a problem with it as his filthy three didn’t garner the same attention as the Golden State Warriors superstar’s disrespectful trifectas.
On Monday, Ross went on Instagram Story to express his gripe, albeit jokingly.
“When Steph does it, it’s all over social media. When I do it (insert shush emojis),” posted the nine-time PBA champion.
San Miguel ended up winning that game, 105-96, with Ross chipping in six points, five rebounds, and four assists.

Don’t rule out another Chef Curry impression from him as the 2-1 Beermen take on the winless Rain or Shine Elasto Painters this Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
