Rain or Shine Elasto leaned on a strong fourth-quarter finish to quickly get back on track via a 122-107 victory over Phoenix in the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup action on Tuesday, September 10.

Gian Mamuyac hit eight of his 14 points in the fourth quarter to tow the Elasto Painters back to the win column after a stinging loss to San Miguel the last time out.

Rain or Shine thus strengthened its hold of the top spot in Group B with its 5-1 record while also compounding the Fuel Masters' misery, who are stuck in the cellar with their winless state in five matches.

The Elasto Painters outscored Phoenix, 23-10, in the final 7:20 seconds of the game.

With the Fuel Masters still within striking distance midway through the fourth at 97-99, Rain or Shine launched an 8-0 run behind Caelan Tiongson's elbow jumper followed by back-to-back Mamuyac triples to widen the gap, 107-97.

Cat-quick guard Adrian Nocum then connected on a three-point play before import Aaron Fuller swung a corner trey to finally shut the door on Phoenix, 114-99, with 3:30 remaing.

Nocum topscored for Rain or Shine with 16 he spiked with a career-high 10 rebounds for his first career double-double while Fuller bucked foul trouble to finish with the same number of points and 11 boards.

Anton Asistio put in 13 points, Andrei Caracut  and rookies Caelan Tiongson and Felix Lemetti each had 12 while Jhonard Clarito contributed 10 to underscore the team effort of the Elasto Painters who drew at least two points from 13 players.

Only Beau Belga went scoreless but contributed three rebounds, a block and an assist.

Phoenix reinforcement Brandone Francis, who is celebrating his 30th birthday today, dropped a team-high 31 points but scored only two in the fourth period.

Jason Perkins registered his own double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds while newbie Kai Ballungay added 11 markers for the Fuel Masters, who gamely fought back from 54-64 down to make it a close game up until the early goings of the fourth.
