Northport Batang Pier player John Amores got into an altercation after a basketball game in Lumban, Laguna, shooting a man he argued with. The victim did not sustain any injuries.
NorthPort Batang Pier guard John Amores surrendered to the police early Thursday morning, September 26, after getting involved in a shooting incident in Lumban, Laguna.
The 6-foot-2 guard went to the police station past 1 a.m., according to a News5 report. Amores' brother also surrendered thirty minutes later.
"Nagkakaroon na ng threat sa kanilang buhay. Napag-desisyunan nila na dito na lang sumuko sa police station," Lumban police chief Bob Louis Ordiz told News5.
The brothers did not give any statement to the media.
Amores was playing a basketball game in Lumban, Laguna with a 32-year-old man on Wednesday, September 25.
Based on the police report, things got heated and Amores taunted his opponent to a fistfight.
Things eventually escalated as Amores rode at the back of his brother's motorcycle to follow the 32-year old man.
The player got off to shoot the man he fought with. But the victim was unscathed and Amores escaped.

The shooting was captured by CCTV cameras, as reported by News5.
Amores and his brother will be undergoing inquest proceedings this Thursday, and could face attempted murder charges.
Amores was NorthPort’s 51st pick in the PBA Season 48 Draft, in a bid for redemption.
During his time as a JRU Heavy Bomber, Amores was notably involved in a brawl against St. Benilde in 2022 during the NCAA’s 98th season.
