The Phoenix Fuel Masters aim to get back on track when they face the still winless Terrafirma Dyip in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup on Tuesday, January 7, at the PhilSports Arena.

Phoenix, currently at 1-5, hopes to use its two-week layoff as a springboard to recover from a 116-105 loss to Converge all the way back to last December 19.

That defeat came just two days after the Fuel Masters' breakthrough win, a stunning 105-99 upset of previously-unbeaten NorthPort.

Head coach Mike Jarin acknowledges the challenge ahead, emphasizing the need for focus against a Terrafirma squad hungry for their first victory.

“In their last game, they really pushed Rain or Shine,” Jarin said of Terrafirma. “They’re gunning for their first win, so I’m sure they’re very prepared. We need to be ready.”

A win could reignite Phoenix’s flickering playoff hopes, but the Fuel Masters must stay sharp against a Dyip team determined to end their own drought.

Game time is at 5:00 p.m.
