Meralco forward Bong Quinto became the first player to receive the honor in the season-ending PBA Philippine Cup.
After leading Meralco to a scintillating start to the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup, Bong Quinto was adjudged the first PBA Press Corps-Pilipinas Live Player of the Week this conference.
This as the Bolts forward normed 13.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in the first two victories of their title-retention bid.
In the 118-80 win over Terrafirma on Sunday, April 6, Quinto set the tone for Meralco with a four-pointer and a trey.

His teammates followed suit and the Bolts went on to halt the Dyip, who simply couldn’t find an answer to the former’s fluid offense.
“Sinusubukan ko talaga i-work sa praktis yung mga bagay na di ako comfortable,” said Quinto.

Quinto beat the likes of San Miguel’s CJay Perez, Magnolia’s Zavier Lucero, and Meralco’s Kurt Reyson for the weekly citation.
This was the six-year PBA veteran’s second Player of the Week honor this season.
“Kailangan ko lang magstep-up sa ibang aspect ng laro ko,” said Quinto.
