They definitely felt the love.
In case there was still any doubt about the star power of the PVL’s best and brightest, the league’s recent out-of-town games in Iloilo should put that to rest.
For starters, the four teams that played in Iloilo—the Creamline Cool Smashers, Akari Chargers, Chery Tiggo Crossovers, and Petro Gazz Angels—were warmly received by throngs of cheering fans. They also filled the San Agustin Gymnasium to the rafters. A group of Jema Galanza fans even flew from Manila all the way to Iloilo just to show their support for their beloved idol.
Then, a day after that successful Iloilo trip, two of the PVL’s biggest stars—Alyssa Valdez and Ponggay Gaston—posted on Instagram undeniable proof of their fans’ love.
Valdez, who has not played a single game this season for the Cool Smashers, looked like the big winner of the PVL’s out-of-town journey, bringing home a haul of gifts from her ever-passionate fans. Among the presents The Phenom received are eye-catching bouquets of flowers, a framed artwork, and all sorts of food.
Take a look:
Gaston, on her first year with the Crossovers, also received a lot of love from her fans, and she took home her own loot of gifts, including baked goodies and bouquets of flowers. One gift even came with a heartfelt note thanking Gaston for “being a rain of sunshine.”
See for yourself:
Of course, Valdez is arguably the biggest name in Philippine volleyball today, while Gaston is a rising star garnering her fair share of fans. So, that kind of love from fans is to be expected. Having said that, they probably aren’t the only ones who received gifts from Iloilo fans.
