MJ Phillips realized her long-time dream of playing in the Korean V-League after being selected fifth overall in the 2023 Korean Volleyball Federation (KOVO) Asian Quota Draft on Friday.

Now she asks everyone to keep supporting her in this new chapter of her decorated volleyball career.

After all, she’s donning the Philippine colors in the prestigious league.

“Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat who have supported me through my journey. Please keep supporting me as I enter this new chapter. Thank you Gwangju AI Peppers for giving me this opportunity,” she said in an Instagram post on Friday.

In the same post, the two-time PVL Best Middle Blocker also vows to give it her all to make the Filipinos proud.

“It’s always been my dream to play in the Korean league and now I have the chance to show what Filipinos can do. I promise to give it everything I got and make the Filipinos proud,” she said.

Her Petro Gazz Angels teammates in Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and Remy Palma couldn’t help but be proud.

Phillips is the lone Filipino reinforcement and one of five Filipino players who got the invite from the South Korean league.

Creamline Cool Smashers setter Jia de Guzman, Akari Chargers’ Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Cherry Tiggo ace Mylene Paat, and F2 Logistics Cargo Movers’ Majoy Baron and Iris Tolenada also applied for the Asian Quota slots.
