Even though they are on opposing sides now, Sisi Rondina and Caitlin Viray felt like it’s college all over again when their Choco Mucho Flying Titans duked it out with Eya Laure, EJ Laure, and the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the PVL Invitational Conference on Saturday.

“Parang college lang din. Nakaka-miss,” said Viray, who once teamed up with the Laures and Rondina with the UST Golden Tigresses.

Rondina shared the same sentiment, adding she’s seen how her former teammates have grown over the years.

“Parang transition lang ng UST no? Parang may antsahan pa rin pero in a silent way lang,” she said after the 25-20, 26-24, 25-15 dismantling of the Crossovers to secure seventh place. “Nakikita namin mga kasama namin nag-grow sa kanilang team. Nakikita natin 'yung maturity nila.”

With Rondina’s explosive performances already expected, Laure said she is elated to see Viray come out of her shell and became a vital cog in the Flying Titans fold.

“Masaya ako kasi si Ate Cait, ‘yung improvement since college grabe. Kung dati palaban na siya, ngayon mas lumalaban siya,” she said.

And she continues to learn from her big sis.

“Masaya ako na nakaka-contribute siya sa team niya. As an open spiker, marami akong natututunan pa sa kanya,” added Laure, who also bared she was held back by injury during the mid-season conference.

But on Saturday, they had to set aside their sisterhood as the Flying Titans pummelled Chery Tiggo behind Viray.

While friends with Eya and another former UST spiker in Imee Hernandez off the court, Viray went off with 22 points including 3 blocks and 2 aces.
