It’s safe to say that the Creamline Cool Smashers will miss their star setter Jia de Guzman, who is now in Japan after signing with the Japan V.League's Denso Airybees.
But more than her services on the court, it’s the friendship she’s built with her teammates that will surely be missed.
Alyssa Valdez, who posted a video of her emotional moment with de Guzman on her Instagram page, made it clear she will be missing her longtime teammate. Michele Gumabao did the same—sort of, but in a very Michele Gumabao way.
Gumabao posted on her Instagram Story a funny but sweet message for de Guzman as the two Facetimed each other.
“Promise hindi ko na burahin, eto na talaga. Good luck, little B,” Gumabao wrote on her IG Story. “I really don’t miss you basta galinga mo diyan. Pakita mo kung sino ka.”
It’ll take some for the Cool Smashers to adjust not having their superstar setter, but they are definitely in full support of de Guzman achieving her dreams.
For now, it’s back to the drawing board for Gumabao and the rest of Creamline as they look to defend their All-Filipino crown in the upcoming PVL conference.
