Alyssa Valdez perfectly explains why Creamline remains PVL yardstick even without two key players

Before anything else, it's vital to get three important facts out the way first.

Fact 1

The Creamline Cool Smashers lost two of its key players in Jia de Guzman and Ced Domingo as the two decided to play in Japan and Thailand, respectively.

Fact 2

Creamline is undefeated in the ongoing PVL Second All-Filipino Conference with a 5-0 slate.

Fact 3

The Cool Smashers are still the team to beat in the PVL.

On Saturday, Creamline superstar Alyssa Valdez was interviewed on One PH’s Power and Play, and she explained in detail how the Cool Smashers have been able to remain at the top of their game despite the absence of de Guzman and Domingo.

According to the highly decorated outside hitter, it’s all about maximizing the team’s roster, which everyone knows is as deep as the Philippine Trench. Yep, the likes of Risa Sato and Bernadeth Pons have been taking their share of spotlight as well.

“Aside sa lahat naman talaga maaasahan sa buong Creamline team, I think our coaches, talaga, instilled in our system na puwedeng gamitin lahat,” Valdez said.

“‘Yun talaga ‘yung pina-practice namin every single day. Lahat umiikot in practice, lahat ginagawa in practice,” she added.

Not only are they talented individually, but apparently, they’re laser-focused on moving as a unit. No wonder Valdez is banking on her squad’s special trait to keep paying dividends as the tournament progresses.

“Lahat magkakasama, kahit sinong katabi mo, kahit sino ‘yung setter mo, talagang isang sistema ‘yung gagawin,” the former Ateneo Blue Eagles standout elaborated.

“It’s been working for us, and we’re really hoping na it’s really (going to be) our advantage going forward this conference,” she continued.

It’s one thing to have a star-studded lineup and it’s another to mold it into a cohesive group. Creamline seems to have mastered how to do the latter. On November 14, the Cool Smashers will have to come together anew as they take on the rolling F2 Logistics Cargo Movers.

With their trademark cohesion and chemistry, expect the Cool Smashers to make life hard for the Cargo Movers.
