They found their groove once more.
The Akari Chargers regained momentum in the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference on Saturday after their straight-sets victory over the Gerflor Defenders, 25-18, 25-15, 25-19, at the Aquilino Q. Pimentel International Convention Center in Cagayan de Oro.
Coming off their tough four-set loss against sister team Nxled Chameleons, the Chargers seemingly released their frustrations on the embattled Defenders, as they dominated the first two sets.
Gerflor showed more fight in the third set, but in the end, Akari proved to be too much.
With the win, Akari snapped its three-game losing skid to hike up to 4-4 in the team standings.
Faith Nisperos and Eli Soyud led the charge for Akari with 11 points apiece, while Dindin Santiago-Manabat and Fifi Sharma added eight markers each.
“Going into today’s game, sabi lang namin sa isa’t isa na usap kami na dapat pakita lang namin ano pinagta-trainingan namin, magkaroon lang kami ng confidence sa sarili at sa isa’t isa, at pagtiwalaan lang ang sistema na meron kami,” Nisperos said in the postgame interview.
The Chargers are hoping to keep their semifinal hopes alive as they face the Galeries Tower Highrisers on Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

Gerflor, meanwhile, is still searching for its first win in the league. The 0-8 team will have a long break before facing the Choco Mucho Flying Titans on November 28.
