The Creamline Cool Smashers are still immaculate in the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference after fending off the PLDT High Speed Hitters in three sets on Saturday at the Aquilino Q. Pimentel International Convention Center in Cagayan de Oro.
With a scoreline of 25-23, 25-21, and 25-19, the Cool Smashers improved to 7-0, further establishing their stronghold of the league.
Alyssa Valdez returned to the starting unit match after getting benched in their last win over the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, as coach Sherwin Meneses experimented with their roster.
The Phenom didn't lose a step against PLDT, scoring 13 points on 12 attacks and one block to lead Creamline once again.
"We’re very happy kung sino pinapalaro ng coaches namin, and I think it’s a very long conference. ‘Yung mindset ko kung pinaglaro, I have to know my role and I have to contribute to the team. Sinusuportahan ako ng teammates ko and coaches ko, so I’m very happy and thankful for them," said Valdez after the game.
PLDT dropped to 5-3 with back-to-back losses.
The three-time PVL MVP also bared that with their short schedule in Cagayan de Oro, they squeaked in a little practice this morning to iron out the kinks.
"Little adjustments talaga ‘yung nag-work in today’s game. All the necessary things na sasabihin ni coach na pag nag-free ball kayo, dito niya dadalhin. Sinusunod lang namin sila, so talagang we’re very grateful for our coaches sa patuloy na pag-remind sa'min all throughout the game," added Valdez.
Well, she also reminded everyone how good she still is.
