Bestfriends Kamille Cal and Ivy Lacsina reunite in Nxled after their NU stint.
Expect a mini National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs reunion as Ivy Lacsina will be suiting up with bestfriend Kamille Cal for the Nxled Chameleons in the 2024 PVL season.
Lacsina played as middle blocker, while Cal was the setter for the Lady Bulldogs, who won the UAAP Season 84 women's volleyball title.
Lacsina then went pro with the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers. But the squad's disbandment after the 2023 PVL Second All-Filipino Conference led her to join Cal and the Chameleons.
Was their friendship a factor? Sure. But Cal admitted Lacsina wanted more.
"Alam ko kasi she's looking forward sa coaching ni coach Taka (Minowa). Kasi nga Japanese, ganun," she said in a video posted by the Chameleons.
"Syempre ako na 'to behhh, charot!"
Minowa has been impressive in his debut as a coach in the Philippine volleyball scene, leading new squad Nxled to a ninth place finish in the recent conference with a 4-7 record.
And Cal isn't too bothered whether the chemistry as teammates on the court is still there.
Their friendship is impeccable.
"Since best friends kami, siguro naman mawo-work out naman namin," Cal said.
Plus, Lacsina can always get guidance from her former F2 Logistics teammate Aby Maraño, who is also Cal's partner.
Expect the Chameleons to level up for the next PVL season!
